Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 9, 2026
The short version: we don't store your stuff. No accounts, no databases, no photo uploads, no ad trackers. Your game night lives in your living room and in memory during your session — then it's gone. Anything your own phone remembers to save you setting up again stays on your phone, and never reaches us.
No accounts, no profiles
Play Table has no sign-up. You join a table by scanning a QR code and typing a display name. We don't ask for an email address, a phone number, or a password, and we don't build a profile of you. On our side, the display name and avatar you choose exist only inside the room you joined.
Your own phone can remember your display name, avatar, and preferences so you don't have to set them up again every game night. That is purely a convenience on your device — it is never sent to us, we never see it, and you can erase it at any time from settings.
Photos never leave your session
Avatars and photo face-pack decks are the heart of Play Table, so we designed them to be ephemeral by construction:
- Photos are resized and compressed on your own phone before they go anywhere.
- They stream through our game server in memory only to reach the other screens in your room — the TV and the phones sitting on your couch. They are never written to disk on our servers, never uploaded to a storage bucket, and never retained by us.
- When the room closes, the photos are gone from our side. We keep nothing, so we have nothing to delete.
- The one exception is your own choice: when you set a photo avatar, your phone asks whether to save it for next time. If you say yes, that single image is kept on your device only so you can reuse it — it is still never sent to us. If you say no, nothing is written down and the photo is used just for that session. Either way, erasing it is one tap in settings.
- The host can remove any player's photo or remove a player from the room at any time during a session.
Game data is temporary
While you play, the state of the table — hands, scores, whose turn it is — lives in the game server's memory for your session only. Play Table has no database. When your room ends, its state ceases to exist. We keep no history of who played, what was played, or who won (bragging rights are enforced socially, not by us).
What stays on your device
Your phone keeps a few small pieces of data locally, and none of it is sent to us:
- A per-tab session token so you can reconnect to your seat if your browser refreshes mid-game. It's meaningless outside that room.
- Your vibration (haptics) preference, and your other personal settings.
- Your display name and avatar, so a returning player doesn't start from scratch. A photo avatar is only kept here if you explicitly chose to save it. Clearing it, or clearing your browser or app data, removes it.
No tracking
This website and the Play Table apps contain no advertising, no analytics trackers, no social-media pixels, and no tracking cookies. Our web host keeps standard, short-lived server logs (such as IP addresses of requests) to operate the service and defend it from abuse, as virtually every website does.
Children
Play Table is built for households and family game nights. Because we collect no personal information and store no photos, there is no child data for us to hold. Rooms are private to the people who can see the QR code on your TV, and the host controls who stays in the room.
Changes to this policy
If Play Table ever changes how it handles data — for example, if we add optional accounts — we will update this page and change the date at the top before those changes take effect.
